Boost Your Immune System

How often do you catch a flu or a cold? What about cough? Is your body easily succumb to viruses?

The world weather has been crazy, causing viruses to spread. It is very common now to find fellow colleagues sneezing and coughing at the office. Hot temperature can cause fever, headaches and dizziness. While rainy season can cause flu, cough and fever. And our weather has been both, rainy and extremely hot.

While it may look like there’s nothing we can do because we cannot control the weather, there is a lot we can do to get our immune system stronger.

So what can you do to boost your immune system?

1.Exercise regularly

Many people take this for granted. Our bodies are not designed to sit all day. Unless your work requires a lot of movement and physical activities (e.g, athlete, trainer, dancer etc.), than you’re all good. Try to workout at least 3 times a week. If this is new to you start slow. Start with once a week, and then move to twice a week and then three times a week. It takes 60 days to develop a habit. So, why not get exercise as part of your habit?

2. Eat a lot of leaves

Make your every meal that eat include a lot of leafy vegetables. In our country, we have a lot of  ulams, kangkung, khailan, bakchoi, spinach and many more. For antibodies to form and fight against diseases, your body needs calories (energy). This is why people who don’t take enough calories get sick easily. But beware, don’t take too much calories, or it might lead to diabetic or obesity! In general, women should take about 1500 calories, while men should consume about 2500 calories.

3. Get enough sleep

In this era of technology, many people are suffering from sleep deprivation. They’re usually on their laptop, phones or television till late night. Now this may seem cool, but lacked of sleep slows down your metabolic rate and weakens your immune system. Not only this make you feel tired and exhausted, but you may also gain weight, and often infected with sinus, cold and flu.

4. Drink lots of water

Its easy to forget to drink lots of water. But remember, our body is made of 70% water, so, we should always drink at least 3 litres of water daily. Water improves our bowel movement, skin condition, and internal organ. Before you drink, make sure you put an intention to “Be at your best health” to the water!

5. Don’t smoke

You’ve heard it so many times. Don’t smoke people! Love yourself, your life and your body.

6. Drink responsibly

If you drink regularly, do it responsibly. This means, drink water in between your drinks to avoid dehydration. Go for liquor on the rocks, and avoid mixers and cocktails. Red wine is also good if you’re health cautious. Limit your alcohol intake to 2 – 3 drinks a week.

7. Eat a lot of fruits

Fruits are natural sugar. Fruits like Oranges, Kiwi, Pineapple, Papaya, Lemon contain a lot of vitamin C & E which is good to make your immune system stronger.

8. Do Yoga

Some people don’t understand how Yoga can relate to immune system, especially when it doesn’t involve any vigorous movement. Its as simple as this. Yoga focuses on your breathing and clears your mind. People who practice and embrace Yoga religiously are often very Zen and calm. And guess what? Stress is a magnet to diseases. 9. Meditate

Many people think that to meditate, you have to clear your mind and not think of anything. Wrong. Meditate is about being in the state of now, and get deeper into the emotions that you want to be in. It takes you away from stress, sadness, worries and any negativity. Like we have mentioned before stress is a magnet to diseases. So meditate may take us away from diseases.
